REFUNDS & CANCELLATIONS
No full refunds are given unless the camp program is cancelled by The Salvation Army Kroc Center. If a participant has paid in full but requests to cancel at least one week (5 business days) before the start of the registered session, a refund will be issued minus a $25 processing fee (or, you may choose to transfer to another session if space is available). Requests made less than one week (5 business days) prior to the start date are not eligible for a refund or credit, except in the case of personal emergencies, as determined by Kroc Center personnel. No credits or prorated refunds will be issued for missed days of camp due to illness, partial attendance, or behavioral issues.
HEALTH INFORMATION
In accordance with state law, parents are required to provide health insurance policy information for each child, verification that immunizations are current, and the date of the child’s last tetanus shot. A signature is required for parents who choose not to immunize.
INCLUSION POLICY
We strive to make camp accessible for ALL children. Unfortunately, the Kroc Center cannot provide specialized, one-on-one care for any individual camper. Parents of children with special needs must submit an inclusion application AND meet with the Day Camp Supervisor at least three weeks prior to your desired camp start date. At this time, we can work together to decide if the Kroc Center is the best place for the camper.
SIGN-OUT PROCEDURES
Only adults listed on the pick-up authorization section of the medical form may sign out a child. Valid photo ID must be presented EACH time a child is signed out (MI state ID or driver’s license, Military ID or passport). Campers may not sign themselves out of camp.
LUNCH & SNACKS
Campers should plan to bring their own lunch to camp every day. If your camper has a food allergy, please make note on their medical forms so accommodations can be made. Healthy snacks will be provided twice each day.
CAMPER GROUPS
Campers are grouped by age and specific activities are targeted towards their age group.
PARENT INFO
Parents will receive an email the week before each registered camp. This will include camp policies, procedures, weekly activities and some fun things to expect. This information can also be found during Day Camp check–in
1. The Kroc Center Day Camp program strives to offer every child, regardless of ability, the opportunity to participate in recreational activities that are both fun & educational. Our counselors work to create a positive environment, free from discrimination or other factors that may prohibit campers from having an enjoyable experience at camp. Day Camp counselors are trained to utilize positive discipline techniques to promote growth & learning.
2. Counselors and campers work together to create a “group contract” and outline the consequences for misbehavior. We deal with issues pro-actively, by informing campers of expectations and creating an environment that fosters safety, openness and respect.
3. Bullying of any kind is not acceptable and will be addressed immediately.
4. Our behavior correction process is a three step system:
Step one: Verbal warning
Step two: Temporary suspension from activity and discussion with Day Camp Manager
Step three: Parents will be notified. If campers do not follow the rules or repeatedly misbehave, we will contact parents. Depending on the severity and frequency of the adverse behavior, campers may be dismissed from camp at the discretion of The Salvation Army Kroc Center. No refunds will be issued for time missed due to disciplinary reasons.
5. Campers are expected to follow our five guidelines for behavior:
- Respect Yourself
- Respect Others
- Respect Authority
- Respect the Kroc Center
- Have fun!
If you feel that your camper may struggle with any of the above guidelines, please fill out an inclusion application to make sure we can provide the best care possible.

WHAT TO EXPECT AT CAMP
Each day at Camp Kroc includes a morning game, ice-breakers, worship, camp songs and large and small group activities. Campers are grouped for the week by age. Activities vary each day to keep things fun and exciting.
WHAT TO WEAR
Campers are required to wear socks & closed-toe shoes every day. Campers should wear weather-appropriate clothes in which they can play and get dirty.
WHAT TO BRING
• Backpack/bag – Campers should bring their belongings in a backpack or bag. EVERYTHING should be labeled with the camper’s name.
• Water bottle
• Lunch – Campers should plan to bring their own lunch to camp every day. If your camper has a food allergy, please make note on their medical forms so accommodations can be made. Healthy snacks will be provided during the day.
• Sunscreen – We recommend that you apply SPF 35 or higher before dropping your child off. In keeping with child safety standards, counselors are not permitted to apply sunscreen to campers. However, they can instruct and supervise campers during reapplication throughout the day.
• Swimsuit – Campers swim and/or use the giant slip & slide frequently, so please pack a swimsuit, sandals and towel on scheduled swim days. A plastic bag or swim bag is helpful to keep the camper’s belongings together in the locker room. EVERYTHING should be labeled with the camper’s name.
